Please take this into consideration when planning your trip to driver’s license, especially when you are trying to arrive in time to meet a testing deadline. Wait times can be over an hour, sometimes two hours, depending on customer volume. We apologize for the inconvenience, and greatly appreciate your patience!

We now accept credit cards. There is a surcharge of $1.00 plus 2.5% of the transaction fee.

When you apply for an Idaho Driver’s License or Identification Card, you will need to bring the following items with you:

***New Rules Regarding Instruction Permits***

In the past, the rule for instruction permit renewals was that as long as the permit had not expired for a year or more, the applicant would not be required to retake the written test to either renew the permit or to continue on with getting the license or endorsement.

The Idaho Transportation Department has made the following change: If the instruction permit expires, the applicant will be required to retake the written test if the previous test was taken and passed a year or more ago.
