Our Programs

Self-Sufficiency Program

The self-sufficiency program is funded by the community service block grant. This program is designed to provide comprehensive services to eligible individuals and families to include employment and better employment, childcare, education assistance, budget management, limited transportation, housing, and food assistance. The program also provides information about, and referrals to other service organizations in the community.

This program is designed to reduce the number of families or individuals who suffer from the lack of food in Alamance County. Households experiencing emergency situations qualify for emergency food assistance through EFAP. Households will receive emergency food which may include a three-day supply of non-perishable food items once every three months. Special dietary foods are available upon request.
